Tey Kim is a Financial Representative with Forest Hills Financial Group (FHFG) who works with millennials through holistic financial planning. He is committed to helping young people learn how to be responsible with their finances without sacrificing their lifestyle. As a member of the millennial generation himself, Tey has a natural rapport with young people and truly understands the challenges they face. He sees his role as empowering clients to become informed decision-makers, rather than “telling them what to do”.
Tey studied business at Carnegie Mellon University and began his professional career in technology/telecom with Vonage, working in customer service, SIP engineering, finance and ultimately training and development. Tey’s path to financial services arose out of his own need for guidance. Working in the tech sector, he found while he knew how to make money, he did not necessarily know how to manage it. In the process of seeking guidance, he saw an opportunity to help others. Tey entered the financial services industry in 2006 as an advisor with AXA, which led him to sales management with both Guardian (National Financial Network) and MassMutual. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to start Millennial Capital Partners, a successful boutique advisory practice he built over the course of a decade. He brought his practice to FHFG in 2014 and in 2017 joined Fortis Lux Financial as Director of Millennial Strategies. Tey now brings his diverse knowledge and experience back to FHFG where he continues to address the financial needs of the millennial generation.
In his spare time Tey enjoys watching movies and TV shows, hiking, and figuring out how to do life in the suburbs after living in the city and not knowing a thing about power washing! Tey was born in Seoul, South Korea and lived in NYC before moving to Manalapan, NJ with his wife Jeena and daughters Alexis and Lucy.
